The Areuse Gorge (Gorges de l’Areuse) is an impressive river gorge in the canton of Neuchâtel, carved into the rock between Noiraigue and Boudry. Along the way, you follow the river closely, pass through narrow rock passages and repeatedly cross bridges, footbridges and stairs along the steep walls.

A particularly photogenic highlight is the fairytale-like stone arch bridge Saut de Brot in the middle of the gorge. The classic hike is easy and follows a one-way route from Noiraigue (station) to Boudry (SBB).

At around 11.5 km in length and taking approximately 3 hours to walk, it is ideal as a half-day excursion.
Families also enjoy the route – although it should be noted that it is not suitable for pushchairs.
The gorge is particularly delightful on warm days, as the water, forest and rocks provide pleasant coolness and a special atmosphere.

Park at Boudry (SBB) station and take the train to Noiraigue station.
