The rear Glarus Valley is a veritable water wonderland: powerful streams cascade down the mountains from all sides. Not far from the former «Bergli» restaurant on the Klausen Pass road, you can already hear the roar, and suddenly the spray-filled waterfall appears before you.
The Fätschbach has impressively carved a young channel into the limestone, plunging in three waterfalls from Urnerboden at 1200 m to the Linth valley floor at 720 m. As early as 1897, the middle of these three falls, the «Berglistüber», was described as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland. A path behind the «curtain» takes visitors conveniently to an exposure of the thrust fault. The rock face consists of approximately 150 million-year-old Wintner limestone from the so-called Griesstock nappe.
For safety reasons, Berglistüber may now only be viewed from the front and the side.
