Braggio is a small, very sunny mountain village in the Val Calanca (the Italian-speaking part of Graubünden) and is considered one of the highest villages in the valley region – at around 1’300 m above sea level. It is spectacularly situated on a glacial terrace approximately 500 metres above the valley floor, with sweeping views across the wild, peaceful mountain landscape.

The journey there is an experience in itself: from Arvigo, Braggio can be reached almost exclusively by cable car/Teleferica or on foot via the historic mule track. The cable car is an integral part of everyday life for local residents and even operates 24 hours (self-service depending on the system) – ideal for spontaneous excursions too.

The village itself offers plenty of unspoilt charm: several hamlets, stone houses, meadows and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere away from through traffic. A beautiful landmark is the renovated Church of St. Bartholomew (San Bartolomeo), situated slightly below the village amid the meadows.

Braggio is also the perfect starting point for hikes in the Val Calanca – from leisurely walks to longer routes across alpine pastures and high-altitude trails.
