The “Buechechäppeli Chapel – St. Anthony the Hermit Chapel” loop from Plaffeien is a short, peaceful hike through forests and meadows in the Sense district – ideal if you are looking for fresh air and tranquil places without too much effort. According to the route suggestion, it is easy, around 4.4 km long and takes approximately 1:14 h, with about 80 metres of elevation gain.
The highlight is the Buechechäppeli (Beech Chapel), a small gem in the middle of the forest dedicated to St. Anthony and first mentioned in official records as early as 1586. Benches and clearings around the chapel invite you to take a break – perfect for a picnic or simply a few quiet minutes in nature.
The route is well suited to families and leisurely hikers, although the forest can be slippery depending on the weather – good footwear is recommended.
The loop is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn, when the Sense region is either bursting into fresh bloom or turning golden.
