Château de Prangins is located above Lake Geneva near Nyon and is the Swiss National Museum’s base in French-speaking Switzerland.

The elegant building, dating from the 1730s, is considered the largest publicly accessible 18th-century château in Switzerland. It was a prestigious address from an early stage – guests included Voltaire and Joseph Bonaparte. At the museum, you can discover exhibitions on history and everyday culture, often focusing on French-speaking Switzerland and the Age of Enlightenment.

A particular outdoor highlight is the potager, considered the largest historic kitchen garden in Switzerland – like an open-air exhibition you can walk through.
