The rock cirque of Creux-du-Van is a spectacular geological curiosity, also known as Switzerland’s “Grand Canyon”. Its circular cliffs, almost 200 metres high and 1400 metres long, rise above the wild Areuse Gorge. It is located at the end of the mythical and mysterious Val-de-Travers valley, the historic birthplace of absinthe, on the border between the cantons of Vaud and Neuchâtel, in the Jura arc of western Switzerland.
