The Goetheanum in Dornach (near Basel) is a spectacular building and is considered the worldwide centre of the anthroposophical movement. It was designed by Rudolf Steiner; the present building is the second Goetheanum and was constructed as a striking exposed-concrete sculpture by 1928, following the fire that destroyed the first building.

Inside, architecture, art and performance come together: there are halls for theatre, eurythmy and concerts, as well as rooms for lectures and exhibitions. At the same time, it is the headquarters of the General Anthroposophical Society and the School of Spiritual Science, with its sections.

For day-trippers, a visit is particularly worthwhile because of the unusual forms, the atmosphere and the viewpoints around the building.

Guided tours are also available (e.g. regularly at weekends; registration depends on the date).
The Goetheanum can ideally be combined with a walk around the campus and a detour to Dornach or Basel.
