Gurnigel is a distinctive ridge in the Gantrisch Nature Park and, with the Gurnigel Pass (1608 m above sea level), a real destination for anyone who loves panoramic views. From the pass summit, expansive views open towards the Gantrisch range, the Fribourg Pre-Alps, the Swiss Plateau and, on a clear day, as far as the Jura. Particularly convenient: you can easily reach the area by the PostAuto Gurnigel route or by car – ideal even for a spontaneous day trip. Numerous hikes start around Gurnigelbad, Wasserscheidi and Schwarzenbühl, including sections of the Gantrisch Panorama Trail and a detour to the Gäggersteg. Those looking for a more challenging outing can climb from Wasserscheidi towards the Gantrisch summit (sure-footedness required). In winter, the area becomes a peaceful snowy landscape with cross-country skiing, snowshoe routes and a small ski area. As a special extra, Gurnigel is also well known among motorcycle enthusiasts – among other things for the traditional hill climb on the winding pass road.
