Hurstmoos in Hindelbank is a small, surprisingly wild natural gem in Hurstwald forest – with ponds, wetlands and plenty of peace and quiet. It began as a biotope created by the former Burgdorf Aquarium Association and saved from silting up. Since 1974, Hurstwald and Hurstmoos have been protected natural areas, something that is clearly reflected in the well-maintained, nature-friendly grounds. One highlight is the circular lakeside path around the ponds: ideal for a short walk, taking a deep breath and observing frogs, dragonflies and birds. The path has been renovated in recent years and enhanced with new benches – including one with a solar charging station for your phone. A log cabin stands at the centre of the site; there are four ponds in total, inaugurated in 1972 after almost 9’000 hours of work and still maintained by the Hurstmoos Association today. The area is also known as “Mösli” and lies within a protected natural area – so please stay on the paths and do not disturb the animals.
