Monte Brè is Lugano’s sunny local mountain, situated at around 933 m above sea level. From the top, an impressive panorama opens up over Lake Lugano and the Bay of Lugano – on clear days, the views extend as far as the Alps. The historic funicular railway, which has been operating since 1908, offers a particularly convenient way to reach the mountain in a short time. At the top, walking paths and hikes of various lengths invite you to explore the scenic landscape. The excursion is also ideal for families, with child-friendly facilities such as play areas and barbecue spots. If you like, you can combine your visit to the summit with a detour to the pretty village of Brè or stop at one of the restaurants – ideal for a relaxing break with a view.
