Monte di Comino (Monte Comino) is a vast, sunny plateau in the Centovalli at around 1’200 m above sea level, surrounded by meadows and woodland. The most convenient way to reach it is by cable car from Verdasio – the journey takes just under 7 minutes, and the valley station is very close to the FART station.

At the top, peaceful walking paths and easy hikes invite you to explore – in the midst of a natural landscape rich in flora and wildlife such as hares, chamois and deer. The area is ideal for a relaxing family outing: plenty of space, fresh mountain air and beautiful views of the surrounding peaks.

A special experience is llama trekking, during which you accompany the animals on a guided route with panoramic views. Those who prefer a leisurely pace can combine the tour with a stop at the Grotto alla Capanna and sample typical Ticinese cuisine.

The small Madonna della Segna oratory is also a worthwhile detour (approx. 1 hour on foot), featuring a 17th-century fresco.

As the cable car’s operating hours vary seasonally, it is worth checking the current timetable briefly before setting off.
