Oberbalm is a quiet, rural destination southwest of Bern – right in the hilly landscape on the edge of Gantrisch Nature Park. Here, you move between meadows, farmhouses and patches of woodland, with beautiful panoramic views towards the Pre-Alps opening up time and again.
A special stop is Oberbalm Church: parts of the Romanesque nave date back to the 12th century, while the tower and choir were expanded later – a fascinating mix of architectural styles.
Hiking enthusiasts will find plenty of pleasant routes in the area, for example a leisurely hike from the Schwarzwasser bridges via Oberbalm towards Niederscherli. Oberbalm is also ideal for a short afternoon outing – little traffic, plenty of nature and a “Seeland panorama” as your reward.
Those looking for more of a challenge will also find numerous running and biking routes around Oberbalm, with gentle ups and downs
