The Pyramids of Euseigne (earth pyramids) are a spectacular natural landmark in Val d’Hérens in Valais – right beside the valley road, which even passes through the formations via a short tunnel.
The up to 10–15 m-high “fairy chimneys” formed from moraine material after the last Ice Age: wind and water wear away the soft material, while heavy rocks on top act as protective caps.
This creates the slender towers, which in certain light look almost like something from a fairy tale – a wonderful photo opportunity in every season.

A short walk along the Sentier des pyramides (educational trail) is particularly rewarding, offering different viewpoints of the formations; parking spaces are available on both sides near the entrance. The detour is also easy to make by public transport: there is a stop called “Euseigne, Pyramides d’Euseigne” in the immediate vicinity.

It is best to stay on the marked paths – the pyramids are fragile and constantly changing due to ongoing erosion.
