Bözingenberg is Biel/Bienne’s local mountain and a surprisingly peaceful recreational area with sweeping views over the Seeland and – on clear days – as far as the Alpine chain. Although it does not quite reach 1000 m above sea level, the panorama is particularly impressive and makes the ascent (or short hike) well worthwhile. Bözingenberg can easily be combined with hikes towards the Taubenloch Gorge or along scenic Jura trails above the city.

A popular stop is the Restaurant Bözingenberg at around 930 m above sea level, which boasts a large terrace and “box-seat” views. The building was constructed in 1885 as a health resort and renovated in 2023 – today it is run by Rotonde AG. Fresh, regional products take centre stage in the kitchen – ideal for a delicious break after a hike or as the destination for a relaxing Sunday outing.

Practical: You can also get there by public transport, for example from Biel railway station by taking bus 1 or 2 to “Taubenloch”, then continuing uphill on foot.
