The St. Peter Church Ruins in Goldswil (Ringgenberg) are a small, historic highlight high above the Bödeli: the church was built in the 11th century in the Romanesque style and is one of the region’s early churches.

Today, mainly the tower and foundation walls remain – a short detour is worthwhile for the atmosphere and the beautiful views of the surrounding area. The site has been restored in recent years, allowing this cultural monument to stand above the valley once again “in new splendour”.

This can be perfectly combined with nearby Burgseeli, a small moorland lake situated in the middle of a nature reserve. Burgseeli is only around 100 metres from Lake Brienz and has shallow shore areas with reed belts – ideal for observing nature. In summer, the Burgseeli natural lido is a popular place for swimming and relaxing – a peaceful oasis away from the large lake.

This makes for a varied outing combining culture, a short hike and a swimming break – ideal as a half-day tour around Ringgenberg/Goldswil.
