San Bernardino Ospizio (Ristorante Ospizio) is located right at the top of the pass and is the classic stopover when you choose the panoramic route over the pass instead of going through the tunnel. The place is rustic and straightforward – ideal for a break, with simple dishes and refreshing drinks for everyone who arrives at the top. The Ristorante is open seasonally in summer (May to October), daily from 09:00 to 19:00.
Right next to it lies Laghetto Moesola, a small mountain lake at 2,063 m, perfect for a short walk along the water. A unique glacier-shaped landscape stretches around the pass plateau, with rounded hills, marshes and other small lakes.
For active visitors, the area is an excellent starting point for hiking, cycling and mountain biking – and in winter, snowshoe tours are also possible. The stop can also be planned when travelling by public transport: during the summer season, the PostBus stops at “S. Bernardino, Hospiz”.
It is often at its most beautiful in the late afternoon, when the light softens and the lake, marshland and mountains around the Ospizio take on a particularly atmospheric quality.
