The Sauvabelin Tower is a 35-metre-high wooden observation tower above Lausanne, right in the middle of Sauvabelin Forest.

At the top, a fantastic 360° panoramic view awaits, stretching over the city rooftops, Lake Geneva, as well as the Alps and Jura. The tower was built in 2003 from locally sourced wood, primarily Douglas fir from the forests of the city of Lausanne. Access is regulated for safety reasons (a maximum of 30 people at a time), and the tower may be closed in strong winds, snow or icy conditions.

Located nearby is Lac de Sauvabelin, an artificial lake set against a backdrop of an old oak forest – a truly atmospheric place for a break. Around it, you will find Parc de Sauvabelin with walking paths and even animals (farm and forest animals) – perfect for families too.

Practical: the entire area is one of Lausanne’s classic local recreation destinations and can be reached from the city centre in a short time.
