Riggisberg Castle is situated slightly above the village and offers beautiful views towards the Alps. The present-day castle was built around 1700 under Albrecht von Erlach and stands out with its hipped roof and distinctive stair tower (Schneckenturm).
Surrounding it, the Riggisberg Castle Garden, with its park and pond, invites you to enjoy a relaxing walk – the castle garden is freely accessible. The castle itself is a wonderful photo opportunity, especially from the outside, and is particularly atmospheric in the evening sun. Today, the grounds also have a social significance: the castle garden provides people with mental or intellectual disabilities with a home and employment opportunities.
If you would like to extend your outing, a visit to the nearby Abegg Foundation in Riggisberg is also worthwhile (open seasonally).
