A forest path leads from the village of Betlis to a viewing platform overlooking a gigantic natural spectacle. The Seerenbach plunges in several cascades down the vertical rock face on the northern shore of Lake Walen, from a total height of 585m, and joins the waters of the Rin Spring.

Emerging from the gorge wall, the second-highest waterfall in Switzerland to fall in a single drop plunges 305 metres, fed by underground springs. The Rin Spring collects water from a vast cave system beneath the Churfirsten. Divers have been exploring this spring and the cave system behind it since the beginning of the 20th century. It is known that an underground channel branches off 3 kilometres deep inside the mountain – but where these waters flow is still a mystery.
