The Simplon Pass is one of Switzerland’s most impressive Alpine passes, connecting Brig in Valais with Domodossola in Italy. At the pass summit, at 2’005 m above sea level, a vast high plateau opens up, with clear mountain air, moorland and numerous small lakes – ideal for leisurely walks or scenic hikes.

A striking landmark is the monumental golden eagle (around 9 m high), which serves as a symbol of vigilance and commemorates the “Guard on the Simplon” during the Second World War. The Simplon Hospice is located nearby and has offered travellers shelter, peace and hospitality since 1831.

The pass road is also open all year round, making the Simplon an exciting destination outside the height of summer too.
