The SwissTech Convention Center is located on the campus of EPFL in Ecublens near Lausanne and is an exciting destination for anyone who appreciates modern architecture.
It opened in 2014 and is one of the larger convention centres in the Lake Geneva region. Much of the interior is modular: auditoriums and rooms can be combined flexibly and reconfigured in a short time, accommodating a total capacity of around 3’000 people.
A special feature is the colourful solar façade with “Dye Solar Cells” on the west side, regarded worldwide as an early showcase project for this technology. Even without attending a convention, it is worth making a detour: viewed from the outside, the building’s striking shape looks highly futuristic and makes a great photo subject.
The easiest way to reach the Center is by taking Metro M1 to the “EPFL” stop (right by the site).
It is easy to combine a visit with a stroll across the EPFL campus – a brief, modern contrast to traditional old-town excursions.
