In the idyllic valley floor shaped by the Breggia River over thousands of years lies the Mill of Bruzella – a historic mill that has been carefully restored since 1996 and has been operating again ever since. From Bruzella or Cabbio, you can reach the mill in around 15 minutes on foot via the old mule track, which begins at the cantonal road.

Thanks to the experience of millers Irene Petraglio and Giuseppe Bernasconi, the mill is operated regularly. During a visit, you can follow the workings of this impressive technology step by step: from the water intake and inlet channel through the water wheel and drive mechanism to the hopper and flour sieve.

The adjoining building also houses an architecturally designed permanent exhibition: “From Mill to Paper Factory” by Thomas Meyer – an exciting journey through the art of milling and the hydraulic machines in the Breggia Valley.

The mill is generally open from April to October on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoons. You can find the exact opening times in the MEVM activity calendar.
