La Maison du Gruyère in Pringy near Gruyères is a show dairy where you can experience the production of Le Gruyère AOP up close.
From the visitors’ gallery, you can watch the cheesemakers at work – production takes place in the morning between 9:00 and 12:30, 2 to 4 times a day depending on the season. There is also an exhibition that explains the cheese, milk deliveries and the region’s traditions in an accessible and engaging way. The maturing cellar, which can hold around 7’000 wheels, is also impressive.
At the adjoining restaurant, you can sample Gruyère at different stages of maturity and typical regional specialities – perfect for a delicious break after the tour.
Practical: The exhibition is generally open daily (check seasonal opening hours), and the site is easily accessible, including for people with reduced mobility.
