La Neuveville is a medieval town directly on Lake Biel, founded in 1312, and with its lanes and rows of houses resembles a little history book by the water. Several towers define the townscape – the best known is the Tour de Rive, which dates from the town’s founding period (1312–1318) and still stands today as an impressive town gate by the lake.

While strolling through the Old Town, you’ll discover fountains, winding corners and lovely views towards the lake at every turn. Vineyards surround the town: La Neuveville and nearby Schafis/Chavannes are ideal for a walk through the vineyards, with the opportunity to enjoy a tasting at one of the wineries.

The lakeside and harbour are perfect places to relax, while Lake Biel invites you to take a boat trip or enjoy a leisurely outing along the lakeside promenade.

In summer, the town often becomes a small stage, with concerts and markets bringing extra life to the lanes.
